A: You can manage your domain name from your dashboard. With access to all your domain name settings you can adjust them the way you like.

  1. Log into your Rocketspark Dashboard using your log in details.
  2. Click Domain Names in the left hand menu.

  3. Find the domain you are looking to edit the setting on, click the pencil icon to the left of the domain name.

Domains hosted by Rocketspark

In a Rocketspark host domain there are four sections that are available.

DNS Settings
Contact Details
Transfer Code
Domain Options

DNS Settings

NOTE: DNS settings are used to keep your website live. Please understand what you are doing before you change the settings as you may experience downtime for your website if done incorrectly. If you are going to change any settings we recommend get a back up of your current DNS settings by taking a screenshot.

Basic DNS Settings (Recommended)

Rocketspark's basic domain settings uses the standard Rocketspark template to connect your website and email traffic. This is the recommended setting if you have no emails or emails hosted with Rocketspark. If you have emails hosted elsewhere you will need to create your own MX records using the advanced DNS settings below.

In the DNS settings area you can also switch over to advanced DNS. In the advanced DNS you can manipulate your own DNS records, this is not recommended for the average user as it can become confusing. If you are needing to add your own MX records but don't want to adjust your DNS records yourself please contact our Customer Sucess team and ask them to add these in for you.

To switch to advanced DNS click Use advanced DNS settings.

You can also edit your domain names nameservers to point to a different location (not recommended). By clicking Edit nameservers you can set nameservers to point to a different location for your domains DNS settings.

Advanced DNS Settings (Experts Only)

Rocketspark's advanced DNS settings area allows you to set your own DNS records. Using the advanced DNS settings you have control over where your DNS records are pointing and can change them at any time. You can find the Rocketspark DNS settings here.

You can switch back to the basic DNS settings at any time by clicking Use basic DNS settings. Rocketspark's basic domain settings use the standard Rocketspark template to connect your website and email traffic. This is the recommended setting if you have no emails or emails hosted with Rocketspark.

Adding a new DNS record

  1. In the DNS settings area select which type of record you would like to add from the drop down menu.
  2. Enter the relevant information required for the type of record (IP address, priority, server etc.).
  3. Enter the relevant subdomain for your website.
  4. Click Add Record.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Removing a DNS record

  1. In DNS settings find the record you are wanting to delete.
  2. Click the rubbish can to the far right of the chosen record.

  3. Click Save Changes.

Nameserver changes

You can also edit your domain names nameservers to point to a different location (not recommended). By clicking Edit nameservers you can set nameservers to point to a different location for your domains DNS settings.

Contact Details

In the contact details section, you can edit your administrative contact details. These are the contact details that are used to manage your account, whether it be a transfer or enquiries.

You can change the entries in any of the sections, ensure you click the Save Changes button once completed.

Transfer Code

A transfer code is used to transfer your domain name away from Rocketspark. By transferring your domain name away from Rocketspark, we will no longer be able to provide support regarding your domain name.

Your domain transfer code will be sent to the email address set to your administrative contact. This can be changed using the Contact Detail editor above.

Domain Options

There are two options under domain options. These are the ability to choose your primary domain name and to cancel additional domain names.

Primary Domain Name

If you only have one domain name registered to your Rocketspark account this is by default set to be the primary. A primary domain name is one which all additional domain names are mapped to. If you have multiple domain names you can select which domain you would like to be the primary domain.

Cancelling Additional Domains

If you only have one domain you cannot cancel the domain, instead you will need to initiate a shutdown process for your Rocketspark account.

If you have multiple domain names, you can cancel any domain name that is not your primary domain. Under a domain name you can click Remove Domain Name, this will stop the domain name from being renewed and remove it from your Rocketspark websites domain names.

Self-managed Domains

NOTE: To change your DNS settings and nameservers for a self-managed domain you will have to go to your domain name host and change these settings there.

If you only have one domain name connected to your Rocketspark account you will not be able to change any settings through your Rocketspark Dashboard.

If you have multiple domains on your Rocketspark account you have two options available.

Making the domain name Primary.

A primary domain is where all your domains will be directed to, it is the one shown in the URL bar when someone is visiting your website.

Removing the domain name from your Rocketspark account.

If you no longer want your self-managed domain to be associated with your Rocketspark website you can remove the domain name.

NOTE: You cannot remove your primary domain name, therefore to remove a domain from your account you must have multiple domains or cancel your account.
